In my latest podcast over at TableTennisDaily we interviewed Richard Prause a world renowned table tennis coach! Richard has represented Germany at senior level and is the former head coach of the German National Team and the Werner Schlager Academy. Prause is the current German National Table Tennis Association Director. I really couldn’t wait to pick Richard’s brains and understand his philosophy in coaching and how he has become a highly successful coach. without further ado here’s the podcast.
Richard shares some of his thoughts and knowledge on:
– Working on the basics
– Regular and irregular practice
– Developing a performance culture
– Giving feedback
– Coaching styles
I liked Richard’s belief in that talent is hard work and a love for the game. For me as a coach I always emphasize to players to work hard and give their best. I think making your coaching sessions fun and creative helps build this. Coach Lloyd will release an article shortly about fixed and growth mindsets and how to develop this concept in your coaching.
Another key aspect Coach Prause mentioned was time management and understanding your players. I liked his thoughts on this area a lot. What did you take from the podcast?
